TCHS in the News!

Our team works with the news media and digital partners to raise awareness of companion animal care and humane education. If you are a member of the media and wish to discuss this with us, please call 320-252-0896 or email us at pets@tricountyhumanesociety.org.

Message from the Executive Director

Dear Friends,

We are halfway through celebrating our 50th anniversary, and what a year it has been so far! TCHS has changed a lot throughout the years, and this year is no different. Below are a few of the notable changes in 2024 that you will find if you come visit us (and we hope you do!)

New Leadership and New Positions

Our beloved Vicki Davis retired in February, but the executive director position isn’t the only role that has undergone changes. Knowing we would be heading into a strategic planning year and expanding our programs, we budgeted for an expansion in our employee sector. Just before the new year, Kari Boehmer returned to Tri-County Humane Society as our Customer Service Manager. In January, Rose Hegerle, CVT, was promoted to Director of Veterinary Services, overseeing the entire veterinary department, animal care department, foster care department, and animal intake scheduling. That’s A LOT, so to help her we recently promoted two staff, Kallie Braun and Bryn Liffrig, to the role of Animal Care Supervisor to support Rose and the animal care team. Even more recently, having juggled our marketing AND the entire volunteer program for years, Kate Kompas has been promoted to Marketing and Communications Manager, and Olivia Schomer, previously in fund development, has accepted the role of Volunteer Coordinator.

I’m excited to see how our customer service, veterinary service, animal care, marketing, and volunteer programs grow and flourish with this talented, hardworking, and compassionate crew. If you see them (look here to put their names with faces), please congratulate them on their new roles!

As we build our dream team to better serve the people and pets of Central Minnesota, we invite you to join us! Check out our website for employment, volunteer, and foster care opportunities.

Intake Exam Room

Under Vicki’s careful watch, we entered 2024 completely debt free, despite having just built a new shelter in 2020. That said, some of the spaces in our new shelter had to be scaled back during the original build phase – like the intake exam room. We are happy to report that we have raised $13,000 of the $20,000 project so far, and renovations are underway! If you’d like to help us fund the remaining $7,000 for our intake exam room, please contact me – or use the enclosed envelope to send in a gift.

Shelter Hours

Come visit us during our NEW shelter hours!

We now open at noon every day of the week, and we close at 6 p.m. on weekdays and 5 p.m. on weekends. We believe the benefits of this new schedule will far outweigh any inconveniences, although we welcome your feedback!

As always, if I can be of assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out.

For the animals and the people who love them,
