Adoption Stories

We receive wonderful stories of TCHS alumni on a regular basis, and we want to offer our sincere thanks to all who take the time to share them with us. We are invested in each and every pet we care for, and we want the best for them!  This is why we do what we do. Why you give, volunteer, adopt, and encourage your friends and neighbors to do the same.

Share Your TCHS Adoption Story:  email your story with photos to pets@tricountyhumanesociety.org or message us on our Facebook page for future publication. We love to hear how our alumni are doing!

Sheba

Sometimes adopted animals need a little time to adjust to feel comfortable in their new surroundings. Such was the case with this adoption story, but now, closing in on almost two years after her adoption, she sticks to her family like Velcro!

Sheba, a gorgeous white Shepherd mix, came to Tri-County Humane Society in January 2023. She was adopted about a week later, and she was initially nervous and unsure in her home. Her family gave Sheba the space and time she needed, practicing patience and letting Sheba come to them when she was feeling brave.

“After a few weeks, she started to trust us and really became our best friend. Now she’s glued to our sides and loves to snuggle and is the princess of our house.”

Sheba’s favorite activities including running, using her Shepherd-herding skills to chase her doggie brother, and trying her best to catch squirrels.

“She can be really silly and will try to make anything a bed. She says, ‘if It fits, I sits.’ ”

We believe in you, Sheba!
