Adoption Stories

We receive wonderful stories of TCHS alumni on a regular basis, and we want to offer our sincere thanks to all who take the time to share them with us. We are invested in each and every pet we care for, and we want the best for them!  This is why we do what we do. Why you give, volunteer, adopt, and encourage your friends and neighbors to do the same.

Share Your TCHS Adoption Story:  email your story with photos to pets@tricountyhumanesociety.org or message us on our Facebook page for future publication. We love to hear how our alumni are doing!

Roxie, now Dahlia

This TCHS adoptee is loving life with her new family, whether she’s on land or on the lake! The almost 2-year-old pup previously known as Roxie came to the shelter in June; she was adopted three days later. Her new name is Dahlia, and she’s made herself at home with her new humans and her two new kitty friends.

“She loves her walks and outside time. We found out she is a lake pup and loves to swim, too!  She is figuring out her crate when we are gone but much prefers to be cuddled up in the couch,” her human writes. “She is so loving and cuddly while also being quite independent – and the queen of giving the side-eye. She loves feeling her ears blow in the wind while hanging out in the yard or taking a boat ride!”

Dahlia also has had a magical milestone – thanks to a doggie toy, she was sorted into her Hogwarts House. (She’s a Hufflepuff, naturally.)

“Dahlia is just the sweetest little gal, and we are so happy to have her as part of our family.”
