Adoption Stories

We receive wonderful stories of TCHS alumni on a regular basis, and we want to offer our sincere thanks to all who take the time to share them with us. We are invested in each and every pet we care for, and we want the best for them!  This is why we do what we do. Why you give, volunteer, adopt, and encourage your friends and neighbors to do the same.

Share Your TCHS Adoption Story:  email your story with photos to pets@tricountyhumanesociety.org or message us on our Facebook page for future publication. We love to hear how our alumni are doing!

Woody

“A week ago, he was in a kennel. Now he is living his best life at the lake with his new friends Vinny and Russell."

That two-sentence email update we got about a dog named Woody this past June made a lot of TCHS workers’ days! It shows the impact of adopting from a shelter – we can’t change the world for all dogs, but it doesn't take much to change one dog’s world.

Woody – an 8-year-old Golden Retriever mix - came to TCHS as a stray in May. His world changed about a month later when he was adopted. Since then, Woody’s been having a blast. He’s still good friends with Vinny and Russell – who are dogs, by the way. He enjoys his walks, and he goes to work a few times a week at the radio station with his human. Woody loves to swim, so spending time at the lake was great for him. But for Woody, it’s really the simple things in life:

“More than anything he just loves laying beside me on the couch and chilling when I am watching the Twins or football games.”

We bet he doesn’t even care what the score is! Congratulations on living your best life, Woody.
