Adoption Stories

We receive wonderful stories of TCHS alumni on a regular basis, and we want to offer our sincere thanks to all who take the time to share them with us. We are invested in each and every pet we care for, and we want the best for them!  This is why we do what we do. Why you give, volunteer, adopt, and encourage your friends and neighbors to do the same.

Share Your TCHS Adoption Story:  email your story with photos to pets@tricountyhumanesociety.org or message us on our Facebook page for future publication. We love to hear how our alumni are doing!

Miles and Minnie

Sometimes newly adopted pets take a bit to adjust to their new animal siblings (and vice versa). Other times, it’s like they’ve been together their whole lives. Fortunately, in this adoption story, it was the latter!

“We adopted our kitty Miles (formerly known as Oliver at TCHS) in December 2021, and he has been one of our sweetest pets. Warm and affectionate, with fur as soft as a bunny’s, he’s been deeply attached to us from the start. We wanted to find him a companion, knowing it can take months for cats to warm up to each other. During a recent visit from our daughter, I took Miles to the vet for a check-up while she and my husband went to look at kittens. As they walked through (TCHS), a little kitten reached out her paw and touched my daughter. She stopped to watch the kitten play and instantly knew this was the one.”

That kitten, then called Rapunzel, was part of the fairy tale litter. She was adopted in April and renamed Minnie.

“Little Minnie has been our smoothest adoption ever. Within just a few days, she and Miles became fast friends — playing, chasing each other’s tails, and even snuggling together. (We only hope Miles forgives her for stealing his soft food!)”

Soft food isn’t the only thing that the new addition has taken: “Little Minnie has stolen our hearts, and we are very delighted that she is part of our family.”
