Adoption Stories

We receive wonderful stories of TCHS alumni on a regular basis, and we want to offer our sincere thanks to all who take the time to share them with us. We are invested in each and every pet we care for, and we want the best for them!  This is why we do what we do. Why you give, volunteer, adopt, and encourage your friends and neighbors to do the same.

Share Your TCHS Adoption Story:  email your story with photos to pets@tricountyhumanesociety.org or message us on our Facebook page for future publication. We love to hear how our alumni are doing!

Gretel, now Skye

This adoption story is about a farm puppy who’s in farm dog training – and the sky’s the limit as far as her future!

The puppy then known as Gretel came to Tri-County Humane Society with her brother, Hansel, in mid-December. Gretel was adopted 10 days later. Her new name is Skye, and she’s living the dream, according to her new family.

“She stole our hearts the moment we met her." Skye is a smart girl who’s learning the ropes of farm life fast. "She inspects, daily, every inch of the property around the house and buildings. She loves running around the woods and pastures. She keeps the farm cats on alert! We’re thinking she just wants to play – don’t think the kitties are ready for her.” The cats may not be too sure, but her people are. “She has become a perfect match for our family.”
