Adoption Stories

We receive wonderful stories of TCHS alumni on a regular basis, and we want to offer our sincere thanks to all who take the time to share them with us. We are invested in each and every pet we care for, and we want the best for them!  This is why we do what we do. Why you give, volunteer, adopt, and encourage your friends and neighbors to do the same.

Share Your TCHS Adoption Story:  email your story with photos to pets@tricountyhumanesociety.org or message us on our Facebook page for future publication. We love to hear how our alumni are doing!

Pete

This adoption story is about a cat who’s likely among the oldest TCHS alumni – he’s set to turn 19 years young this March, 2025! Pete was born in a TCHS foster home on March 4, 2006, and was adopted when he was about 3 months old. Now, almost two decades later, Pete may have slowed down a bit, but he’s full of purr-sonality.

“He’s very social and outgoing and, in his time, a fairly well-traveled guy.” Pete used to visit Chicago and Wisconsin regularly, meeting other cats and dogs along his journeys and taking everything in stride. “He enjoyed the company of his dog sister (Grace) for 14-plus years, but after she passed away, he now is the only pet in charge. These days his favorite activity is napping in the sun.”

Pete still has plenty to look forward to – including investigating the patch of catnip in the backyard as soon as the snow melts, same as he does every year. We wish him and his human lots of quality time in the new year!
