Adoption Stories

We receive wonderful stories of TCHS alumni on a regular basis, and we want to offer our sincere thanks to all who take the time to share them with us. We are invested in each and every pet we care for, and we want the best for them!  This is why we do what we do. Why you give, volunteer, adopt, and encourage your friends and neighbors to do the same.

Share Your TCHS Adoption Story:  email your story with photos to pets@tricountyhumanesociety.org or message us on our Facebook page for future publication. We love to hear how our alumni are doing!

Ross

Tri-County Humane Society serves thousands of animals every year – and it’s hard not to get attached to every single one of them! It’s even tougher when certain animals spend a longer amount of time at the shelter. The average length of stay for animals is eight days, but there are always a few who “wreck the curve”!

This adoption story shows that good things come to those who wait. Ross, a 1-year-old cat who came to us as a stray in late May, was struggling to find the right fit, so one of our staff members, Christina H., made it her mission to try to get Ross adopted. They designed a poster explaining why “Ross is the boss” and took many photos and videos of her for promotion. Their hard work paid off! Ross finally found a home in mid-September, and she found a great one!

“Ross has been a cuddler, and she loves hanging out with the kids, sleeping in their beds with them. Her favorite sleep spot is a chair in my 7-year-old’s bedroom. She likes chasing the dogs around and playing with them. She took no time at all to get comfortable- it feels like she's always been with us.”

Our staff member, Christina, is over the moon that Ross is happy in her new home – and she keeps a picture of Ross in her locker to remind her why TCHS work is so important!
