Adoption Stories

We receive wonderful stories of TCHS alumni on a regular basis, and we want to offer our sincere thanks to all who take the time to share them with us. We are invested in each and every pet we care for, and we want the best for them!  This is why we do what we do. Why you give, volunteer, adopt, and encourage your friends and neighbors to do the same.

Share Your TCHS Adoption Story:  email your story with photos to pets@tricountyhumanesociety.org or message us on our Facebook page for future publication. We love to hear how our alumni are doing!

Mo

With puppies and kittens, you get to watch them grow up and develop their personalities. But when you adopt a senior pet, you get the joy of giving a second chance to a fully formed individual. Mo is one such pet. At 16 years young, he was adopted in February - a mere three hours after arriving at Tri-County Humane Society! His new humans say Mo has an independent personality and curious nature.

“He is an active older gentleman. He goes out for walks with us through the neighborhood, which we now call sniffing and marking tours! No pole is left unmarked!”

Mo also loves to lay in the sunshine, cuddle with his humans in their recliners, and receive plenty of belly rubs. He’s also a good traveler and likes to go on rides (even to the vet), and he has his own blanket he makes into a nest when his people are driving.

“While we thought that he was just ignoring us when we adopted him, it became clear - and verified by his vet - that he is deaf.  That has not stopped Mo - or us - from figuring out how to communicate with each other through hand signals. We all are still learning! A friend told us that if he doesn't come when called, then we have adopted a cat!”

Mo’s favorite time of the day is bedtime. When the TV weather report is finished at 10:15 p.m., Mo will get out of his recliner, go to the door to potty, and then head straight upstairs for a good night’s rest.

“We are so glad that we have Mo in our lives, and our goal is to continue giving him his best life ever!”
