Adoption Stories

We receive wonderful stories of TCHS alumni on a regular basis, and we want to offer our sincere thanks to all who take the time to share them with us. We are invested in each and every pet we care for, and we want the best for them!  This is why we do what we do. Why you give, volunteer, adopt, and encourage your friends and neighbors to do the same.

Share Your TCHS Adoption Story:  email your story with photos to pets@tricountyhumanesociety.org or message us on our Facebook page for future publication. We love to hear how our alumni are doing!

Charlie

TCHS staff and volunteers adored Charlie during his two weeks at the shelter. He seemed to be a typical 2-year-old Black Lab mix – sweet, energetic, adorably derpy. And as it turns out, our impressions were right!

We’ve heard a few times from Charlie’s family; he loves his new home. (He arrived at the shelter as a transfer from Leech Lake Legacy in late October 2023.) Charlie has done great with his feeding schedule and housetraining routine; he also loves to play tug-of-war.

“Treats are definitely one of his favorite things besides walks with Mom and Dad.” And even though he’s an active guy, he still makes time for the important things: “He makes an excellent cuddle buddy before bed.”

“The great thing about being with, having a dog, is it kind of forces you to be in the present because that’s definitely where they’re spending their time.”  Jennifer Aniston
