Adoption Stories

We receive wonderful stories of TCHS alumni on a regular basis, and we want to offer our sincere thanks to all who take the time to share them with us. We are invested in each and every pet we care for, and we want the best for them!  This is why we do what we do. Why you give, volunteer, adopt, and encourage your friends and neighbors to do the same.

Share Your TCHS Adoption Story:  email your story with photos to pets@tricountyhumanesociety.org or message us on our Facebook page for future publication. We love to hear how our alumni are doing!

Casper, now Jack

This adoption story is sure to put some wind in your sails. Read on to learn about how one TCHS alum runs a tight ship!

“We adopted Jack (formerly Casper) as a kitten in 2017. He'd been fostered with his siblings by my colleagues Lee LaDue and Mike Sharp. Our family sails and had always been curious about whether a cat would enjoy sailing, and then we saw a story in a sailing magazine about a family that chose to live aboard and sail the world for a few years with their cat. Jack has a very sweet and gentle personality and doesn't scratch where he's not supposed to, so we thought we'd give him a try sailing last year. He now loves going to the boat with us, watching sunset while we anchor out in the Apostle Islands. And he gets extra cuddly when sailing, which is a bonus! He even has his own flag that we fly when he's on board so our neighbors in the Marina know he's aboard.”

Aye, ‘tis a wonderful tale! May all your voyages be safe and happy, Jack!

“You haven't lived until you've sailed.” David Sedaris
