Adoption Stories

We receive wonderful stories of TCHS alumni on a regular basis, and we want to offer our sincere thanks to all who take the time to share them with us. We are invested in each and every pet we care for, and we want the best for them!  This is why we do what we do. Why you give, volunteer, adopt, and encourage your friends and neighbors to do the same.

Share Your TCHS Adoption Story:  email your story with photos to pets@tricountyhumanesociety.org or message us on our Facebook page for future publication. We love to hear how our alumni are doing!

Freckle, now Lucy

Naming an animal sometimes is a little tricky – you want to pick something that totally encapsulates their personality, in just one word (or a few words). The animal in this adoption story is named after a certain red-headed comedic icon; it sounds like she’s just as madcap and zany (and lovable). Then named Freckle, the adorable tortie kitten spent time in a TCHS foster care home to grow big enough for adoption. She was a bottle baby, so no wonder she was used to the star treatment! Freckle was adopted in December.

“It took many name trials before we settled on a name that fit her personality. We decided her name would be Lucy (after Lucille Ball).  She is full of life and energy but also wants a lot of love and attention from her humans and other fur friends. She likes to chase and play with Ivy (our other cat we adopted December of 2021).  It didn’t take long for them to become friends and they are now a bonded pair.  She enjoys any toy that makes noise, loves to chase the laser toy and any snuggle time.  She likes to take on the bigger animals (the dogs). She’s pretty fast and likes to attack and run off like she did nothing.  She enjoys running the house and having so much space to roam.  She is a great addition to our family.”

“I believe that we're as happy in life as we make up our minds to be.”  Lucille Ball
