Losing a pet is very painful – they are family, after all. The decision if and when to add a new pet to your home (and heart) is a personal one, and the answer is different for everyone. In this adoption story, a very special dog came into the human’s life at just the right time. Here’s the story:

“I have had a number of dogs from Tri-County Humane Society through the years. My last dog was gifted to me by a dog breeder friend, a German Shorthair purebred, the runt of the litter. Hershey was my best friend for nearly 13 years. I decided to take a pause and recover from my loss. Finally, three years later, in November 2016, I decided to make the move and took a look at the humane society website. And there she was, staring at me, another Shorthair. I ran right over and met my new best friend. Her description was high energy, hunting instinct, follows her nose, loves her humans, and thinks she is a lap dog. Well, she was all of that and more, taking over the couch and my bed sometimes. She was only a year old, so she had a lot of pup energy in her. She continues to share her awesome personality with everyone she meets. Morgan and her walking pal, Hobey, take us around Lake George and through SCSU campus often. She loves chasing down squirrels and even has the skill of climbing up trees. I think that part may be because she may be part Blue Heeler. She has been a great blessing in my life.”  Brad
