“We already have inside cats, but were looking for some ‘working cats’ to help control the mice in our feed room. I was hesitant because I’ve heard the stories about outside cats. I know the risk, and I didn’t want to put myself through the heartbreak if something happened. But I also understand they have a purpose, and they do love to be outside.

We brought Eddie (gray) and Betty (black) home and gave them food and shelter. They got canned food in the evening, but still would hide every time we came into the room. After four weeks, it was time to let them explore. We cut a hole in the wall so they could come and go. It was hard to let them go, and I hoped they would come back, and they did.”

Eddie comes home regularly and even allows for some pets while he’s eating! Betty stays in the fields, but her human is hopeful she’ll return more often as the temperatures drop. (Her human watches her movements on camera.)

“Eddie is home and so loved. Betty also is loved and has a home if she needs it.”

And a bonus: “We no longer have mice.”
