year-end appeal

December 2025

Dear friend of animals,

Recently, two very pregnant domestic white mice were left outside our shelter doors. Our foster care team immediately began seeking foster placement for them. I casually mentioned it to my 11-year-old son, and his delight at the thought of fostering baby mice was contagious. I found myself emailing our team back, genuinely hoping they’d still be available. And they were! About a week later, we became the proud fosters of eight baby mice.

They were adorable. They brought joy, smiles, and laughter to our home. And they've grown big enough that they can be away from their mom, and they're back at the shelter awaiting adoption. They will make great pets, just in time for the holidays!

These tiny mice represent a fraction of the companion animals we see at TCHS.
To date this year, we’ve taken in 2,949 cats, 1,341 dogs, and 284 other critters
for a total of 4,574 companion animals. Each has their own story, and their time at TCHS or with TCHS fosters is just a tiny piece of it.

It is a true gift to be able to receive and care for so many animals each year. We feel fortunate to be here, ready to support them in their journey, thanks to people like you.

This holiday season, I invite you to reflect on the love, joy, and laughter that pets bring to our lives. If you are in the market to adopt a pet, please visit us! We have close to 100 pets seeking homes at any given time, and we’d LOVE to find them all homes for the holidays!

Have room in your home to foster or time in your day to volunteer? Please reach out to us! From tiny mice to large dogs, our foster team is always on the lookout for foster homes, and our volunteer program has lots of opportunities to get involved!

Your gifts this holiday season can make a huge difference in the lives of animals. We thank you in advance for your donations of time, talent, or treasure. We wouldn’t be here for the animals without people like you who care!
