Working Barn Cats

Spike and his step-sibling Sapphire came to us from TCHS as kittens in late 2014. They had been previously adopted out as housecats, but they had a little problem with the concept of a litter box. At their subsequent home (our horse stable), they appreciated being liberated from such expectations. Spike and Sapphire manage the stable’s rodent control department . They like that they can set their own “work” hours. They also manage to squeeze in plenty of time being lazy, along with their older stable step-sibling Alfie, resting in clean, plush, straw piles.

It seems that Spike has somehow managed to not mature much mentally the past three years. There is still plenty of “little boy” in him!
Spike is easily inspired to take chase, by almost anything that moves, including bugs. We just sit back on the stable porch chairs and watch him carry on with his shenanigans. Spike is “laugh therapy” for us!

Our endearing trio of barn cats are hard workers, but they can rest and play even harder! Thank you TCHS for bringing Spike and Sapphire to us!
