Polly is now Maisie, a 10-month-old cat whom the family says is their snuggle bug. “Pretty much every morning, she wakes us up around 5 a.m. by perching on our chest and chirping in our face until we wake up and give her pets. Once she’s had her fill, she’ll curl up next to us and go back to sleep.”

Maisie’s BFF is Punk, whom we called Cupcake. That almost 2-year-old cat is “just a cool guy. He is solid and tough and doesn’t love being held but does love curling up in laps. He is quite chatty and doesn’t care for closed doors, meowing until they are opened. In fact, he will go into our son’s room from a little cat door in the laundry room and over to their door and meow at it until they open it.”

Maisie and Punk have two cat siblings, one of whom sometimes gives Maisie some static – but “Punk will walk in between them and diffuse the situation.” They also have a dog brother, whom they think is A-OK because he ignores them.

“These two have brought a lot of joy and healing to our house after losing our 13-year-old cat to cancer in March. We’re very thankful for them!” That makes two $5 cats priceless!
