Lagatha, now Cleo

There’s a reason we at Tri-County Humane Society always recommend slow and proper introductions for recent adoptees and their new family members (human and animal alike). Sometimes they get along famously from the beginning; other times – like with today’s Feel Good Fur-Day subject – there are a few bumps along the way. We’re happy this family weathered the hissing, because now they have two kitty BFFs!
The kitten we called Lagatha arrived at TCHS with her mom and siblings in late February; the group then went to foster care for mom to raise the little ones. Lagatha returned to the shelter and was adopted in early April. Her name is now Cleo, and she has worked mightily to win over her new sibling, a 5-year-old cat named Gizmo.
“It’s fun to see our older cat being more active and intrigued by the presence of Cleo – they both follow each other around the house, even though they still fight a little here and there,” one of Cleo’s new humans shared shortly after adoption.
Cleo’s activity level is certainly entertaining. “She’s hilarious and playful and sounds like a miniature pony running around the house – she drifts around corners because she is fast and keeps on startling our older cat by crashing into her on her runs!”
Cleo is now 6 months old, and we received a more recent update: Gizmo is getting used to her little sister!
“Now they are becoming really good friends, and Cleo follows her everywhere! She is a little over 7 pounds already, incredibly snuggly, playful, and curious! We can’t imagine our life without her.” We bet that goes for Gizmo now, too!
