Karen (and Rose)
Meet Rose and Karen. Rose worked part-time at the Tri-County Humane Society before she adopted Karen. Rose returned to be our volunteer coordinator in 2014. She’s now a full-time veterinary technician for us and we’re so fortunate to have her on our team!
Rose and Karen are equally fortunate to have found each other at TCHS!
“I adopted Karen a decade ago on July 17, 2008 from TCHS. At the time, one of my cats had recently passed away and my husband was deployed, so I was feeling pretty down. I wasn’t planning to get another cat right away, but like many others, I decided to “just look around” at the shelter cats. When I arrived at TCHS, I realized they were having a “Red, White, and Blue” sale on all cats that had one of those colors in their coat. I met a sweet young adult cat who had come to the shelter as a stray mama, previously named “Petunia.” I fell in love immediately, paid the $17.76 adoption fee, and took her home the same day. The picture in the collage of us sleeping together was taken the day of her adoption. She instantly brought peace to my heart and home. Karen is the BEST cat. Yes, I am biased, but when you imagine getting a feline companion, she is the cat you are imagining. She is very affectionate, loves to snuggle, enjoys playtime, is an excellent hunter, has the best purr motor, is tolerant, gets along with other pets, and has just the right amount of sass. She really is the whole package! I am so grateful for the opportunity to find her at TCHS and add her to our family. She is now approximately 13 years old and despite a mild medical condition that is managed with diet and meds, she is happy and going strong. I look forward to the next 10 years with her.”
