Gizmo, now Little Dog
We hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday season! As we approach 2026, we’re thinking about new beginnings. Thanks to our community of adopters and friends, we’re able to give thousands of animals a second (or more) chance every year. And sometimes the glow-up is dramatic – like today’s Feel Good Fur-Day subject!
The stray dog we called “Gizmo” had a ruff, er, rough start. The then 9-year-old Yorkie mix came to Tri-County Humane Society after he was found in a kennel by a dumpster at a fast-food restaurant. He had a skin infection, was crusted in urine, dehydrated, and was in desperate need of a haircut.
“Gizmo” would need some immediate TLC, so he went to foster care with one of our staff members. “Four baths later, and a little hair trim, some snuggles and cute little clothes, and he is a new pup,” she wrote.
Not surprisingly, he never left his foster home; his new family fell head over heels quickly. His new name is Little Dog, which is the only thing he responds to, and the now 12-year-old pup lives a full life, complete with multiple human and animal siblings. “He loves belly rubs and being with his people.”
Here’s to new and better beginnings, for humans and animals alike!
