Emma

Emma came to us in February as an immediate evaluation because she was having accidents outside of the litterbox. Due to her age, her previous owners thought euthanasia may be her only option. We thought we should check into things further before making that decision. Emma was not pleased to be here initially and was rather fractious in the cat room. After some time and patience, we were able to evaluate her and found that she in fact had a Urinary Tract Infection that needed treatment. She was treated and cleared of her UTI and other than some arthritis due to her age, appeared to be in good health. After Emma warmed up to us we started allowing her to spend her days in the conference room since she seemed much more comfortable in there. A simple baby gate kept her contained as she had no desire nor ability to jump over it. Emma was much more relaxed and very affectionate when spending time up front. She soon became a staff and volunteer favorite and was affectionately nicknamed Emma Lou Shamoo.
On May 17th, a very sweet woman called the shelter with questions about Emma. Less than a half hour later she was here to take Emma home. Emma’s new mom was smitten with her the moment she laid eyes on her and a wonderful match was made. When we told her that Emma’s adoption fee had already been paid, she excitedly responded with “How can something this sweet be free?!” We are excited for future updates on how Emma is being spoiled in her new retirement home.
