Cheeto Pete

Everyone who’s ever loved an animal knows they have distinct personalities – and those personalities can be very memorable.
Today’s Feel Good Fur-Day subject is about Cheeto Pete, one of those big cats with an even bigger attitude who stays with you – not unlike cheesy dust on your fingers during snacking!
Part of the reason our team got so attached to Cheeto Pete was because he was with us for about six weeks, far longer than our average eight-day stay. He arrived in mid-July and was adopted at the end of August. He finally got noticed – big-time – when we shared a picture of him on our social media in which he looked unusually chonky. That post, and a subsequent post the next day announcing he was adopted, drew hundreds of shares and comments, including “Cheeto Pete! Legend,” “Cheeto Pete Fan Club Member,” and “Free the Cheeto!”
So how is Cheeto Pete doing? Pretty darn good! He gets monitored outdoor time, in which he likes to bring back critter “trophies” for his humans. He’s also a big fan of sunbathing, both indoors and outdoors.
“He is very funny! He’s always trying to ‘escape’ by pulling on the door handle to go outside. He gets along well with the other dogs and cats in the house; he loves playing with the laser and rolling around with them.”
Not surprisingly, Cheeto Pete loves taking copious amounts of naps.
“His favorite spot is on top of the tallest cabinet looking down on everyone, and he lies in the most inconvenient interesting spots where he looks like he would plop off, but he secures himself well.”
The most important thing: Cheeto Pete “is very loved here. He is my father-in-law’s cat, but everyone who comes to visit helps take care of him and loves to hang out with him.”
