Oakley and Orion

Tri-County Humane Society’s volunteers are not just valued team members; they’re also often donors - and adopters! This adoption story is about two critters who were adopted by the family of a standout TCHS volunteer. Alex F. spent more than two years as a TCHS volunteer photographer, turning in beautiful photos for the website and social media. TCHS recognized her efforts by awarding her “Junior Volunteer of the Year” last year.

“After losing our beloved guinea pig Buster (a TCHS alum as well) in April of 2019, our family eventually decided that we were ready to bring another senior pig into our home. After watching the website for some time, we found Oakley and Orion, a set of 6-year-old guinea pigs. We recently celebrated their one-year anniversary of adoption. We joke about how they are getting younger because it seems every day we see a more energetic side of them running circles around us. They have brought so much joy to our family, and we were lucky to find such a lively pair of senior pigs!”
